Adam Smith is the owner and founder of Texas Harley-Davidson. Leading alongside him are loyal friends and partial owners, Shane Talbert and Neil Noble. These three gentlemen are great friends, colleagues, and combined they make an excellent team. Adam was the original owner and sole proprietor of the company and a fun fact is that at 21 years of age he was and remains still today the youngest person in history to open a full-service Harley-Davidson Dealership. Adam learned to ride a motorcycle before he learned to ride a bicycle. A 50cc mini bike and a crosstie were the only things he needed to get started. To date, Adam has ridden over a quarter of a million miles across the US, including scenic rides through Alaska, Sturgis, Daytona, and more. Adam has a growing collection of antique Harley-Davidson motorcycles that you can see displayed at the dealership, you may also be surprised by him during a normal workday as he likes to practice social drifting in our our back parking lot.

Independence Harley-Davidson has been in continuous operation since the early 1920's. Originally located on West Morehead it began through the partnership of Mr. Bishup and Mr. Upchurch. Sometime in the mid 20's one of their mechanics by the name of Doug Creech bought them out. An avid Harley-Davison racer, expert mechanic and natural born salesman, Mr. Creech would continue to grow the business over the next four decades. Often referred to as a true gentleman, he would eventually relocate the dealership to South Tryon where he reigned as owner until 1970. While the dealership would remain in the same location for nearly two and a half more decades ownership would change hands four more times.
Ernest Hinson a rather stoic individual would take control in 1970. Known to be cut and dry and always to the point in all his dealings. In '79 Dale Swaringen would take ownership, new to the sport, he quickly grew to embrace the lifestyle and the people.
